So it's only been 10 months or so since I have posted but who cares I'm back now! Anyway I started this blog almost a year ago when I decided that I spend so much time at work reading blogs that I might as well start my own. So I posted twice...and promptly forgot about it. Maybe that was because my life was going so well at the time and I was still under the illusion that if I just kept everything bottled up that that it would just go away and I'd never have to deal with it again. So here I am again I guess since I've had a problem with insomnia lately and also I have by shiny new Mac Book to keep me company while I sit in bed not sleeping. So I decided to start this blog thing up again. Here goes…
I first discovered blogs when Time magazine came out with their best 100 websites of 2005. That is where I discovered Dooce written by the amazingly hilarious Heather Armstrong, I was immediately sucked in and spent the next few days at work reading the archives from the beginning, which (if no one has every discovered a blog years after it was started) is very much like discovering a great TV show, you immediately go rent the first few seasons on DVD and take a weekend or so and watch all the back episodes, which is so great, that is until you get all caught up and have to start waiting an entire week to see what happens next. Discovering Dooce was very much like that except with the added enjoyment of having never heard of a blog before (except the ones friends had on myspace.com). It wasn’t like just discovering a new TV show, it was like discovering TV! After my initial disappointment of finishing the archives I realized that, wait!, other people probably do this too! So I began looking for more entertainment to alleviate the never ending boredom of working at a cell phone retail store. I discovered Amy’s Wednesday Advice Smackdown, which led me to Amalah, then I realized that the comments on these Blogs! They have comments! Left by real people! Who are funny and have blogs of their own! So that is where my introduction to blogs began. I now check on around 15-20 blogs weekly and have 4 or 5 I visit every day. I don’t have that boring job anymore since I decided by boss was a crooked asshole (more on that later) so I’ve since stopped my obsessive quest for more reading material.
Anyway since it’s about 5 am or so I think I’m going to go figure out how to link to blogs on this page and them go to the gym because its 5am and if I can’t sleep I might as well do something productive.
